Sensei Gavin Oliphant's brand new class starts this evening at Bodysenze Fitness, Unit 1, Bristol Avenue, Blackpool, FY2 0JF with its official opening being from next Thursday 12th June. The class time is 6.30-7.30 pm in the dance studio.

Any students who used to train at the old Poulton class or any student who wishes to do extra training leading up to their next grading is welcome to go along and train under Sensei Gavin. Sensei Gavin will be assisted by Sempai Martin Wilmott and Junior Instructor Dylan Hickman who are both brilliant teachers and leaders in their own right.

We wish Sensei Gavin all the very best with his new class and we know he is going to be a fantastic class instructor!

Pre - Grading Assessment - Sunday 17th May 2015.

Location: Cardinal Allen High School, Melbourne Avenue, Fleetwood, FY7 8AY

1 - 2 pm for White, Yellow, Orange, Green, Red, Blue belts

2.15 - 4pm for  Purple, Brown, 2nd Kyu, 1st Kyu and Black belts

All students who have been invited and are hoping to grade in June must attend this pre-assessment session. You will be notified by your Sensei if this grading applies to you. All students will be observed by the Chief Instructor. The pre-grading assessment is designed to put you through your paces and see individually if you are ready for your next grade. Attendance is important as failure to show may result in you having to wait until the next grading before attempting your next belt.

For all students who have been selected to attempt the grade of Shodan-Ho, Shodan or Nidan at the end of June it is vital you attend this assessment. Failure to show at the assessment will result in you NOT being allowed to grade at the June black belt grading.

Grading slips will be given out at the end of the assessment to all successful students.

The cost of the assessment is £5 per person for all students.
Please sign in and pay on the day.

Please note: The pre-assessment fee is not included in any pre-payment training fees.

March Update

Musuko Karate Academy has been running for just over a month now so we thought you may like to know what has been happening within that time.

The club continues to go from strength to strength with lots of new students. We would like to take this opportunity to welcome each and every one of you to Musuko Karate Academy. We are sure that your time spent with us at this great club will be friendly, informative and very rewarding!

Within the first month we have also had our first student grading, opened a new Thursday Fleetwood class with Sensei Julie who is doing a fantastic job, and we also currently have an after school club running at a local primary school with Sensei Simon.

There are also plans in place for a new Thursday class to open very soon with Sensei Gavin...details to follow shortly!

We have some great and exciting things planned for the coming months so please keep checking here for details and also on our facebook page.

Finally, one of our Junior Instructors Nathan Crowther has succesfully been chosen to dance in Matthew Bourne's production of 'Lord of the Flies' at The Lowry, Salford, from the  2 - 5th April. Some of you may also have seen Nathan's appearance on the BBC 1 breakfast show on Friday 28th March with Matthew, speaking about Nathan's role in the lead up to next weeks shows.  I'm sure as a club we all wish Nathan well with his involvement in this fantastic theatre production!

Once again thank you for being part of such a fantastic club. Please remember we are always here to help so if you have any enquiries or concerns please do not hesistate to contact us in the usual ways.

First Grading Assessment

On Saturday 26th April we held our first grading assessment, and what a brilliant afternoon it was. The attendance and support was fantastic! The level of karate and attitude on the day was superb and everyone thorougly deserved their grading slips. Such was the high standard of every student's karate even the parents who watched couldn't fail to notice, and many commented at the end what a high level every one was at for their particular grade!

Thanks must go to Sensei Gavin, Sensei Martin, Sensei Julie and Sensei Del for helping with the assessment. All the Sensei's gave some great feedback on the day and they were all very impressed with how hard everyone worked.

Congratulations also to all our students who were awarded with our new Junior Sempai badges. You all fully deserve your roles for your karate, dedication and etiquette and will be a great example to all our other students who train with us.

We are now eagerly awaiting and very much looking forward to our first full grading in a few weeks time as well as Musuko Karate Academy's first ever student attempting their black belt!

Grading Assessment Date Change

We are changing the date of the grading assessment from Sunday 27th April to Saturday 26th April, due to there being some rather important premier league football games on the Sunday, which many of you will want to watch plus we couldn't have the hall for all the allocated hours we needed it.

The assessment will still be at Cardinal Allen High School, Melbourne Avenue, Fleetwood, FY7 8AY. The grading assessment times are still the same:

1 - 2.30pm for white to blue belts,        3 - 4.30pm for purple, 3rd, 2nd and 1st Kyu's.

It is very important that you attend this course if you are hoping to grade in May, as grading slips will be given out at the end of your assessment. Please be prepared to work hard and remember to bring a drink. The cost of the course is £5 per student, please pay on the day.

Easter 2014 Class Closures

All classes will be running as normal over the Easter school holidays apart from the ones stated below:

Good Friday - Chorley class - CLOSED

Easter Saturday - Culcheth class - CLOSED

Easter Monday - Fleetwood class - CLOSED

The Culcheth class with Sensei Simon will also be CLOSED on Saturday 26th April, this is due to the hall unfortunately being unavailable. The class will return to normal and be OPEN  on Saturday 3rd May at the usual time 10.30 - 11.30 am.

On behalf of everyone at Musuko Karate we would like to wish all our students and families a lovely Easter :)

Congratulations, Keith!

We would like to congratulate Keith Bertram who graded to his 9th Kyu Yellow belt at the Chorley dojo on Friday 7th March.

A special mention must go to Keith as he is our first ever student to grade here at Musuko Karate Academy!

Keith has been training for well over six months now and is making excellent progress. He is a great character to have around the dojo and he always tries his hardest at everything he does. Keith trains twice a week at the Astley and Chorley dojos along with his brother Elliott and sister Charlotte.

On the night Keith gave 100% from the start. His responses and kias were loud and no one could ever doubt his effort and enthusiasm. His Kion kata was well practiced and Keith stayed focused throughout.

Sensei Simon is very pleased with Keith and his commitment to karate.

Well done Keith and keep up the fantastic work!

New Fleetwood Class

Sensei Julie Dudley’s brand new beginners class starts Thursday 6th March at Cardinal Allen High School, Fleetwood. The class time is 6.30-7.30pm in the dance studio. All new beginners and current students up to the grade of yellow belt are very welcome to train there.

We wish Sensei Julie Dudley all the very best with her brand new class and we know she is going to be a fantastic instructor!
